In Senegal, the price of a kilogram of meat has risen from 3,800 to 5,500 CFA francs in just a few months, while the price of onions has doubled. Fuel, transportation, rent… No sector has been spared by the surge in prices. Senegalese consumers who are frustrated by the rising cost of living in Dakar have launched a new hashtag: #30DaysForTheRightPrice. The organisers of this widely shared digital campaign want to alert the authorities to the social consequences of the situation, particularly for the most vulnerable households.
