Manchester United v Ipswich Town (4:30pm BST)
Coventry have signed Stephen Mfuni on a season’s loan from Manchester City, the 18-year-old left-back becoming their 11th summer signing. The teenager, who can also play at centre-back, made his City debut in against Exeter in the FA Cup in January and spent the second half of last season on loan at Watford, for whom he made eight appearances.
After Saturday’s home defeat by Hull, Frank Lampard played down the idea of Coventry having a busy end to the transfer window. “I don’t think so,” he said. “With where we’re at, who knows, because there’s a few days [left]. Will some players leave if it’s best for them and the club? It’s possible too.”
Evertonian Gary Naylor has messaged in to say:
“Consensus is not really what Evertonians do, but if we keep Armstrong, get Richarlison and Grealish, but lose Ndiaye (who will play in AFCON next summer) plus money, I think we emerge on the upside. If we can get most of a CB out of the cash balance, I’d persist with Rohl as RB and Garner as cover.
“Crucially, Moyes sided with us and won. That’s good for the future.”
Meanwhile, Forest are poised to sign Daniel Muñoz from Crystal Palace before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, reuniting Oliver Glasner with the Colombia wing-back after striking a £22m deal, while they have also been exploring a move for a goalkeeper.
Everton pull plug on Armstrong sale to Forest
Everton have pulled the plug on Harrison Armstrong’s proposed £35m move to Nottingham Forest following a backlash from the club’s supporters. On Saturday Everton fans at Bournemouth made their anger plain at the potential sale of the 19-year-old midfielder, who joined the club aged five. Everton supporters chanted the club would have “a riot” on their hands if the sale went through. Forest received written permission accepting their offer and Everton gave the player, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Preston, the green light to travel to Nottingham to complete the move. That all changed late on Saturday night, with Everton’s ownership jolted by the fan reaction, and on Sunday morning Everton communicated to Forest their change of heart.
Armstrong started for Everton against Bournemouth on Saturday and played 86 minutes before the Toffees pulled the plug on his move.

Tottenham are looking for more attacking reinforcements and are closing in on a deal to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton. The Senegal winger was a target for Manchester City but looks set to head to north London. It will be interesting to see how Evertonians react to that one. There’s a chance Richarlison heads in the opposite direction, in a deal that would see the Brazilian striker head back to Merseyside four years after leaving for Spurs, but it remains to be seen if he’ll agree to it. Roberto de Zerbi has said that Richarlison wants to leave.
Celtic lead the table after three games with maximum points, with Hearts just behind on six.
Another one heading out the door at West Ham, with out of favour centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo expected to join Lens on a straight loan. He’s been a terrible signing. The Championship club are pushing to complete a deal for Viking winger Edvin Austbo.
Speaking of Manchester United, Michael Carrick said it was “lazy and easy” to say everything was wrong with the team after the opening-day defeat at Hull.

Speaking of transfer news, Liverpool have finalised a deal worth up to £123m for Bradley Barcola. The winger is scheduled to undergo a medical this weekend.

Chelsea confirm Emiliano Martínez signing
Chelsea have completed the £7.5m signing of Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa. The goalkeeper said: “I’m delighted to be at this football club. Coming to Chelsea, for me and my family, was an easy decision to make and I’m just over the moon – I can’t wait to get started.
“I want to be successful here. I’m someone who wants to win at everything I do and I want to bring that here to this football club because it’s a football club that wins titles, so I think it’s a good match.
“I’m all passion and I play with my heart. I will give 100% every game, every training session to make the club, my teammates and the supporters proud.”

Víctor Muñoz rescued a point for Liverpool yesterday against Nottingham Forest in Andoni Iraola’s first Premier League match in charge of the Reds at Anfield.

In a further blow to Spurs, De Zerbi also revealed that Richarlison, Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr all want to leave.
He admitted: “Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave. Danso came to me two days ago and he said he wants to leave. Pape Sarr the same but he suffered a small injury, but he is almost ready to train.
“I love these players, and they are great guys. I have very good relationships. But if they want to leave, they have to bring the economic solution to the club, and they can go and we find other players.”
Roberto De Zerbi has admitted his biggest challenge for his Tottenham team will be to find “the right mentality”, as they fell to a second consecutive defeat at the start of the Premier League season.
“It’s the biggest problem, it’s the biggest challenge and the biggest target is to find the right mentality,” De Zerbi said after the match. “You can’t find the right mentality in the transfer market. Football is a magical thing, you can change a lot of players and you can find the balance immediately or you need more time. I want to achieve this target as soon as possible … but I am in no doubt that we will reach it.”
