EBENEZER• We misquoted a study into higher temperatures and uncompensable heat stress (UHS), where the body loses the ability to cool itself, by saying it found that each additional degree of global heating “exposes roughly 1 million more people to at least 180 hours of UHS annually”; the actual figure in the study was 1 billion ( Heatwaves pose serious risks for over-60s – study , 18 August, p13). Also, the research was published in the journal Lancet Planetary Health, not Lancet Public Health.
